Just a quick blip of news that everyone should find interesting to know, Royal Pingdom is reporting that Google is the Champion of the Mobile Search.

After a quick look at the below chart using Statcounter’s Global Stats, it certainly seems as though other companies are not even recognizing the mobile market as a market at all:

We at SEO Genesis of course know differently and with this news comes the preparation of how we will incorporate this information as a tool.

How will your business factor in people using their Androids, iPhones, Blackberrys, and other “Smart” phones on a daily basis to receive information?

How can you make sure you can be the one to provide the answers for the questions they ask?

Will local search results be a higher value item within mobile searches versus on a computer?

Good questions to ponder over on a Friday morning, along with many more not even thought of as my morning coffee still has yet to settle in

Google Testing More Query Revisions

Google seems fascinated lately with query revisions. If you’re not sure what query revisions are, you’ve probably run into them and just didn’t know exactly what happened. Think back to when you did a Google search and they showed you results for a different term then the one you searched for, then offered a hyperlink at the top of the results page that says “Showing Results for ______”, “Did You Mean ________?” Google is testing this and the results have been rather frustrating to searchers. Lets be happy they at least see the need to continue to test this. Here is a typical example.

I searched for:
blue widgets.

And I got:
Here is the search for red widgets. Did you mean to search for blue widgets?
Yes, actually, I did mean to search for blue widgets. I clicked on the search for blue widgets.

And I got:
Here is the search for blue wadgets. Did you mean to search for blue widgets?
Yes, as a matter of fact, that’s why I typed it in in the first place. So I clicked on the search for blue widgets yet again.

And got:
Here is the search for blue widgets..
Oh, happy day. But wait – there in the last position I saw that Google had slipped in a page about blue wadgets after all. As if I couldn’t really be serious about wanting to search for blue widgets.

I searched for:
blue widgets -wadgets.

And got:
A search for blue widgets with a page about red widgets somewhere around the bottom of the page.

I then search for:
blue widgets -wadgets -red.

And finally am looking at search results I had hoped to get in the first place.

As you can see there is still a lot of improvement needed in the part of Google with this. Lets hope they figure it out soon or turn it off.
